Parte de Trelew y Puerto Madryn en dirección nordeste, por ruta nacional Nº 3, para luego por rutas provinciales 1 y 2 continuar en dirección al este para ingresar al área Península Valdés, en el Centro de Interpretación Carlos Ameghino, primer punto de la excursión donde se podrá ver parte de la historia, la fauna terrestre, marina y avifauna.
Continua el recorrido por caminos de tierra, típicos de nuestra zona, llegando a Caleta Valdés, o Punta Norte, apostadero continental de Elefantes Marinos, durante todo el camino se descubrirán los habitantes naturales de la Península Valdés: ńandúes, Guanacos, Maras, Piches, Zorros, Zorrinos, águilas, Lechuza Patagónica, etc. Continúa la excursión arribando a Puerto Pirámide, pintoresca aldea sobre el Golfo Nuevo, con aguas cristalinas que la convierten en el paraíso de los buceadores y naturalistas. En épocas que arriba la Ballena Franca para aparearse y tener sus crías (Jun-Dic), se puede contratar modernas embarcaciones para el avistaje de Ballenas. La aldea posee algunos restaurantes con menús internacionales y frutos del mar. Continúa el recorrido arribando a Punta Pirámide, apostadero de Lobos Marinos de un pelo (Dic-Mar). Ya al regreso se visita sobre el Golfo San José, la Isla de los Pájaros (depende la época del año) , donde a través binoculares, se puede observar a las aves (Flamencos, Cisnes, Skúas, Petreles, Gaviotas, Gaviotines, Palomas Antárticas, etc.) en su hábitat, . La Isla se encuentra a unos 800mts de la costa. Arribando luego a Puerto Madryn punto de desembarco de los Colonos Galeses (año 1865), pasando por la única Planta de Aluminio del País Aluar -, el Parque Industrial Pesquero, el Muelle de aguas profundas, Almirante Storni, donde atracan Buques Turísticos y de transporte internacional de carga. Arribando luego a Trelew, último punto de la excursión.

La zona de El Doradillo es visitada todas las temporadas por un grupo de ballenas madres con cría. Debido a lo calmo de sus aguas y la inusual profundidad de la costa (por su alta pendiente), las ballenas se acercan mucho a la playa. Esto último posibilita el avistaje de costa, con una probabilidad cercana al 95 % de encontrar animales a tan sólo 20 o 30 metros de la costa. El avistaje de costa es un complemento ideal para aquellos que vieron ballenas en lancha y una opción para los temerosos de embarcar.

Salida de Puerto Madryn y Trelew al sur, atravesando parte de la meseta patagónica hasta llegar al paraje Dos Pozos, donde se puede observar aún, una construcción de piedra que fue una de las primeras oficinas de telégrafo a principios del siglo 20.. En esta zona, la cercanía del mar hace que la vegetación sea diferente a la observada en la parte de la meseta. Durante todo el camino se descubrirán los habitantes naturales de la región patagónica: Ńandúes, Guanacos, Maras, Piches, Zorros, Zorrinos, Águilas, Lechuza Patagónica, etc. Arribando a la Estancia “La Perla”, donde en épocas de la esquila ( Sep-Oct) se pueden observar las diversas tareas de campo que realizan, luego de atravesar la Estancia se arriba a la reserva de Punta Tombo. Comenzando la visita por el Centro de Interpretación, luego en la caminata dentro del área natural protegida, de la pingüinera continental más grande del mundo se podrá observar la colonia de Pingüinos de Magallanes(aprox. 1.000.000) y sus nidos, conviviendo naturalmente con Guanacos, Ńandúes, Mara, Piches,etc. Al regreso, se hace un breve city tour en Trelew (en galés “pueblo de Luis”), donde se podrá visitar de manera opcional el museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio. Fin de la excursión en Trelew y Puerto Madryn.

Salida desde Puerto Madryn y Trelew. Visita a los principales puntos de interés de la ciudad de Trelew, donde se podrá visitar de manera opcional el Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio. Luego continúa hacia Dolavon, pueblo galés que en ese idioma quiere decir “Prado del Río”. Se podrá observar el Molino Harinero, instalado a principios del siglo 20 para procesar el trigo cosechado por los Galeses en el valle, también se verán las norias que fueron utilizadas para regar los cultivos. Continúa la excursión visitando capillas Galesas del siglo 19. Arribando al pueblo de Gaiman (en mapuche “Piedra de afilar”) otra colonia galesa en el valle inferior del río Chubut, donde se podrá degustar de manera opcional el típico Té galés. Fin de la excursión y regreso.

Parte de Puerto Madryn y Trelew en dirección oeste por ruta Provincial Nº 25, transitando por la típica meseta patagónica. En algunos tramos del camino se puede observar el viejo trazado del ferrocarril de trocha angosta que partía desde Puerto Madryn y finalizaba en el Alto de Las Plumas, unos ochenta kilómetros al oeste de Dique Florentino Ameghino. A 112km de Trelew, se encuentra el Bosque Petrificado, por el momento cerrado al público, estando la visita sujeta a la apertura del mismo. De visitar el bosque petrificado, se lo hace tanto de ida como de vuelta. Este atractivo es un afloramiento de bosques fósiles que conforman un verdadero yacimiento, por su magnitud y concentración, encontrándose los árboles convertidos en piedra en el mismo lugar donde transcurrió su vida en el pasado.
Se ha podido establecer por esa época la existencia de una vegetación casi tropical costera, con la presencia de especies que hoy habitan regiones subtropicales, encontrándose muy próximos al Dique Ameghino vestigios fósiles de aquellos bosques, enmarcados en una espléndida vista del Valle Superior del Río Chubut, donde podrá observar árboles petrificados de hasta 16 metros de longitud y 1,30 metros de diámetro.
Para arribar a la Villa del Dique se desciende a través de un camino que atraviesa distintos túneles realizados en la roca viva. Aquí se podrá observan el “Gran Murallón” que hace de presa para contener las aguas del Río Chubut y así formar la represa de siete mil hectáreas. También se puede observar, la presa de la central hidroeléctrica.
Cerca de la villa, sobre la margen del Río, se observa una Planta de procesamiento de Caolines, (fabricaciones de loza, sanitarios, etc.) mineral que se extrae de esa zona, de suma importancia para la economía regional, El almuerzo, normalmente consiste en cordero al asador, que sirven en algunos de los pocos restaurantes que tiene la villa.
Se regresa a Trelew y Puerto Madryn.

Se agrega una hora desde ambas ciudades si se visita en bosque.
La navegación de avistaje de Ballenas Francas, sale desde Puerto Pirámide en la Península Valdés, en embarcaciones de no más de 70 pasajeros. Se provee salvavidas y capas de agua.
La duración de la navegación, depende de la distancia en que se encuentran las Ballenas, normalmente esta excursión no pasa de 1,30hs a 2 hs.
Se realiza desde Puerto Madryn. La visita a esta reserva natural se realiza con marea baja y media para poder observar los ejemplares de lobos marinos.

The area is visited all seasons by a group of mothers with breeding whales. Due to its calm waters and the unusual depth of the coast (due to its high slope), the whales were very close to the beach. This enables the watching of the coast, with a probability close to 95% of animals found only 20 or 30 meters from shore. The sight of the coast is an ideal complement for those who saw whales in boats and an option for those who fear to board.

The tour leaves from Trelew and Puerto Madryn northeast by national route Nş 3, then taking provincial routes 1 and 2, we get to Carlos Ameghino’s Interpretation Center.
This one is the first point of the tour, where it is possible to see part of the history , the fauna and sea birds of this area.
After, we get to Caleta Valdes, a continental sea elephants reserve. During the journey we will see the natural inhabitants of the Peninsula Valdes: ńandues (American ostriches), guanacos, maras (Patagonian hares), piches (armadillos), fox, shunks, eagles, Patagonian owls, etc. Later we arrive to Puerto Piramide, this beautiful town on the New Gulf with their crystalline waters is the paradise for divers and naturalists.
During Southern Right Whale’s season, from June to December , it is possible in this village to take the whale-watching tour in modern embarkations. This small town has some restaurants which offer international menu and seafood. Next, we go to Punta Piramide, a place of the sea wolves of one hair which are found from December to March.
On the way back we visit on the San Jose Gulf the Birds’ Isle, where it is possible, through binoculars, to watch different kinds of birds in their habitat, such as flamingos, swans, skuas, petrels, seagulls, Antartic pigeons, etc. The isle is at 800 meters from the coast.
Afterwards we return to Puerto Madryn , the point of disembarkation of the Welsh colonists (year 1865). We go through this city and see the only aluminum factory in the country (ALUAR), the fishing industrial park and the deep waters’ wharf “Almirante Storni”. At this wharf tourist ships and international ones dock.
Finally we get to Trelew the last point of the tour

This tour leaves from Puerto Madryn and Trelew southwards. It goes through the Patagonian plateau until the spot known as ´Dos Pozos´. Here it can be still seen a stone builiding , which was one the first telegraph´s office at the beginning ot the 20 th century. In this area, the proximity to sea makes the vegetation to be different to the one watched on the plateau. On the way ,it is possible to see the wide diversity of typical Patagonian fauna such as ńandues (American ostrich), guanacos, Patagonian hares (maras), foxes, Patagonian armadillos, eagles, Patagonian owls , etc. It goes through the ranch ´La Perla´, in which during season ( September- October) the different work- ranch tasks can be observed. Then it gets to Punta Tombo – Firstly the Interpretative Bureau is visited , then we will walk within the protected area of the biggest continental penguins`s reserve in the world (in peak season there are about 1.000.000 penguins). You will be able to see Magellanic penguins naturally coexisting with guanacos, Patagonian hares, Patagonian armadillos etc. On the way back we will make a short sightseeing – tour in the city of Trelw ( in welsh language means Luis`s town) , where it is possible to visit as optional the Paleontological museum Egidio Feruglio. Finally we come back to the city of Trelew and Puerto Madryn

This tour leaves from Puerto Madryn and Trelew. Firstly we visit the main points of interest of the city of Trelew , where it is possible to visit as optional the Paleontological Museum Egidio Feruglio . Then we go to Dolavon, a town of welsh origin which name means in this language “Rivers`s Meadow”. Here the flour mill can be watched, which was settled at the beginning of 20 th century to process the harvested wheat by the welsh in the valley. At the same time we will be able to see the ” norias ” sort of wells, which were used to irrigate crops. The tour goes on visiting the welsh chapels of the 19 th century. Later we arrive to Gaiman ( in Mapuche language means stone to sharpen ), which is another town of the Lower Valley of Chubut`s River , where the typical welsh tea can be tasted . Finally we come back to the city of Trelew and Puerto Madryn

The petrified wood is constituted by the outcrop of fossil woods as a result of the emplacement of trees which were converted into stone. This fact happened in the same place where these species lived. Even though different foldings and geological pressures have sunk these ancient woods , at present they have arised by time´s erosive action.
It has been proved that by that period ,there was a vegetation almost coastal tropical, with the presence of species that today live in subtropical regions. The oscillations of the sea coast and the presence of coast lagoons as well as a thick vegetation allowed such climate.
Close to Ameghino Dam , fossil vestiges of those woods are found, surrounded by an outstanding landscape of the Chubut River´s upper Valley . At this spot it is possible to see petrified woods which reach up to 16 meters long and 1, 30 metes wide .
At the beginning of the third age, the Andes mountain chain rose and avoided the crossing of wet currents . At the same time, volcanic eruptions happened so the ashes and lava made the current stratum. These ashes covered the original woods and began a slowly organic transformation.
The original material received the deposit of the volcanic material. The process of absorption, impregnation, sustitution and mutilation took place. The fossil keeps its external aspect as a trunk, but its inside structure turned into stone. This process was about 60 millions years ago in our Patagonia.
Despite the fact that the trunks , which are found here have not an outstanding diameter , it is remarkable the length of most of them . Among the big ones it is possible to see quartz formations and occasionally vegetales fruits´fossils.

During the Southern Right Whales season from June to December, authorized embarkations of no more than 50 passengers leave from the village of Puerto Pirámides for whale-watching.
Lifejackets and capes are provided. The whale-watching tour takes between 1 hour and a half and 2 hours. This depends on the distance where the whales are situated.
